Friday Enrichment Session I Announced

Ancient Cultures and Land Stewardship
Blue Mountain School's Friday Enrichment program begins on September 14th. The first session is six weeks long, ending on October 19th. We are currently enrolling students ages 5 1/2 to 12 for a full day of classes and social time at Blue Mountain School. The cost is $180 for the session, and registration forms are available to download and in the office. For more information, please contact BMS at 540.745.4234 or by email.
Daily Schedule and Class Descriptions for Session 1:
From 9am to 11am, Lore Deighan will facilitate the exploration of how humans in ancient cultures expressed themselves through art. Her class will allow students to try historic methods of creating art, using a hands-on approach.
From 11am to 12:15pm, Winter Koeppe will help students consider the various ways in which humans in ancient cultures met their needs for shelter, food, protection, communication, entertainment, and transportation.
Together, Winter and Lore hope to spark students' curiosity about and understanding of how their ancestors lived.
Students will have lunch and recess from 12:15pm to 1pm.
From 1pm to 3pm, students will focus on living in harmony with nature to welcome abundance for humans while at the same time contributing to the health of our planet. Through gardening, games, projects, and field trips, students will explore the direction of the sun and wind, the recycling of rain and organic matter, and using 'waste' as a resource. Taught by Veronica Santo and Jonathan Greenberg, Permaculture Design Apprentices, this class is intended to inspire fellow students of the Earth and stewards of the land.

There are still a couple of spots available in each of the classes for the Fall, and we'd love to have them full of wonderful young people! Please spread the word about BMS, and you could get a bonus! For a limited time, currently enrolled Blue Mountain School families will receive a $250 tuition credit (up to $500) when they refer a family who enrolls at least one new child as a BMS student.

[This program does not apply to students enrolling in the Friday Enrichment program. New students are children who have not attended BMS since 2009.]
